Pamphy Linns - 'An Oasis in the Desert'

 A' The Airts, Sanquhar, DG4 6BL

 Fri 27th September 2019

Guided History Walk led by Alice de Ville...

Join Alice on this fascinating walk to a spectacular spot a couple of miles west of Sanquhar. Described by the Rev. Robert Simpson as being 'a fairy nook' and 'a spot of real enchantment', a visit to the Pamphy Linns will transport you to a different realm. Discover the 200 year-old carved graffiti and hear stories of the Covenanters who used this mossy, shady glen as a hideout during times of persecution. We'll also share verses from a poem written by the poet Alexander Anderson about this inspiring place.

Length: 5 miles. This is an easy to moderate walk, with a good general level of fitness required. All ages and dogs welcome! Please be sure to bring walking boots, appropriate clothing and a packed lunch.

Event duration: 4 hours approximately
