St Bride's Church Hall Sanquhar

Festival of Folklore

The History and Folklore of Medicinal Herbs

 St Bride's Church Hall, Sanquhar, DG4 6BW

 Sun 29th September 2019

Herbs have been used since the earliest times to soothe and cure ailments, wounds and illness. There are many superstitions and folklore associated with these remedies. How do you get rid of a toothworm? Which plants are associated with the doctrine of signatures? Which herb can you use to 'keep thee youngly'? Sue Hughes is a herbal historian and will use her knowledge, along with a range of herbs and artefacts, to help you explore the folklore of medicinal herbs.

Following the talk, come and chat with Sue and take a closer look at her herbal displays.
